AIRPLANE WINDOW: THE BEGINNING OF G LAND AND ITS SURF CAMPS

Has been popular as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Banyuwangi, many of you may have not been aware of how G Land was discovered back then. G Land's hidden location in Grajagan Bay, the most southeastern part of Java, probably brings you a big question, how could someone find this paradise?

Back to the year of 1972, an American surfer named Bob Laverty took a flight to Bali. It was on the journey, while enjoying the scenery from airplane window, that he recognized G Land with all of its beauty and potential.

He and his friend directly went to the spot where G Land is in. Due to the fact that at that time speedboat from Bali or jeep from Taman Nasional Alas Purwo had not been available yet, they went to discover G Land using legendary Suzuki 70 cc motorbikes.

Through such a long ride consuming three days in total, they finally arrived at the deep dense forest where the hidden paradise, G Land, is located. Captivated by the best waves in G Land, the two decided to establish basic accommodations which are known as G Land's surf camps nowadays. Their first happy customers, among others, were world's top surfers.

These surf camps can still be found up to now. Among many of the surf camps in G Land, Jack's Surf Camp perhaps the best one as its location is the closest to the surf spots in G Land. This best surf camp in G Land provides a variety of accommodations started from USD $700/person/6 nights.
