TYPES OF SURFING BOARDS | JACKS SURF CAMP

If you are a beginner surfer, make sure you understand the type of material used to make surfboards. Today, modern surfboards are made of fiberglass or epoxy. Both of these materials give different results to the surfboard. The use of fiberglass will produce surfboards that are more adaptive to ocean waves making it easier for professional surfers to maneuver but unfortunately, fiberglass surfboards are more easily broken. On the other hand, surfboards from epoxy have a durability of 35% stronger, lighter weight, and buoyancy better than fiberglass surfboards making it suitable for beginners. In addition, beginners should also choose a 7-8 foot long surfboard that allows surfers to stand on the board and practice balance.

Before surfing, you must make sure how high and the strength of the waves in the sea you visit because surfboards are created in various types to handle the varying height and strength of the waves. For small waves, use a 5-6 feet long fish board or 6-8 feet long egg. For small and medium waves, use a 5.10 - 6.6 feet shortboard or a 6.6 - 7.6 feet long funboard. For medium to small waves, use a retro single fin of 6.8 - 7.2 feet, while for medium wave with high strength, you can use a 9 foot long malibu, 6.8 to 7.2 foot long semi guns, or a mini malibu along 7.6 - 8.2 feet. Finally, for high waves with high strength, use the type of guns as long as 7 - 12 feet.

On G-land Surfing, you need a minimum of surf boards for medium high-strength waves, and you can use a 9-foot-long malibu, 6.8 to 7.2-foot semi-guns, or 7.6 to 8.2-foot mini-malibu. It would be better for you to use a surf board for high-powered high waves, which is a 7-12 feet long type guns surf board.
